The bipartisan “American Music Fairness Act” (AMFA) was recently introduced in the House of Representatives and would establish a sound recording performance right for AM/FM radio in the United States. AMFA closes the century-long loophole that has enabled Big Radio to earn billions of dollars without compensating American artists a single cent, while protecting truly local and community broadcasters. The bill also has special protections that ensure songwriter royalties are unaffected by the establishment of the new right.
