The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hennings-Fischer Foundation are pleased to accept applications for the upcoming 21st annual Young Artist Competition. The competition is open to all instrumental (except piano) and opera applicants age 30 and under as of 4-30-22. Applications are accepted online through YAPTracker. The application fee for 2022 has been reduced to only $25, and financial assistance/fee waivers are available.

Preliminary auditions will take place on April 28th and 29th with Finals beginning at 7:00PM on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Semitone Institute of Music, 1229 S. Baldwin Ave, Arcadia, CA 90017. There will be a grand prize winner in the instrumental and opera categories and both winners will appear in a subsequent subscription concert in the 2022-23 or 2023-24 season. The winners will also receive a $500 honorarium at the time of performance.

For instrumental applicants, a full concerto from the standard repertoire is required (memorization preferred) . For singers, please prepare three contrasting arias from the standard opera repertoire. You must bring your own accompanist to the preliminary and final rounds. If you would like to change repertoire before the competition, you do not have to contact us. Please bring one copy of a piano or solo score to the preliminary and final rounds.
