On Christmas Day 2019, composer/performer Gina Williams found herself on Ukrainian television performing in front of a national audience. This Jamaican Canadian born boundless musical creator shares the story of how she got there along with stories of her background growing up as an outsider in the Canadian education system and how her connection to Ukraine was forged in her youth by a close family friend who called her granddaughter.
